The Austrian part of the symposium will take place in May 2009 at MUMOK (Museum Moderner Kunst – Stiftung Ludwig – Vienna). The symposium program is detailed on the Symposium and Presentation subpages. It takes place from May 28th to May 31st.

The exhibiton of »Coded Cultures – Exploring Creative Emergences« will take place at »freiraum/quartier21« (MuseumsQuartier Vienna). Details on the Exhibition can be found on the Exhibitions subpage. The Exhibition is held from May 27th – June 07th and is opened daily 10 am – 8 pm. General Opening is on May 27th, 7 pm.

In the museum lounge of MUMOK Vienna, Performances and Workshops take place during Coded Cultures. The Lounge is a bright and transparent space, affording a great view of exhibitions on display in the Kuppelsaal. Workshops take place on the 30th and 31st of May. The closing event of Coded Cultures takes place in the “Hofstallungen” of MuseumsQuartier Vienna. Starting with Pecha Kucha Night (20:20 – 22:00h) and following a Live-Performance of Artist-In-Residence Tetsuya Umeda, the whole event has the topic of contemporary electronic music, featuring a music and DJ selection brought to you by Trust Records and Minimal Tokyo. The Hofstallungen (Imperial Stables) have a surface area of 370 m² and are situated in the oval wing of the historic building of MuseumsQuartier. The closing event is on 31st of May, 2009 and starts at 8 pm.

Before and during Coded Cultures, 5uper.net invites 3 Artists and 1 Scientist to Vienna. Supported by the artist-in-residence program of MuseumsQuartier Vienna, Mamoru Okuno (JP), Walter Langenlaar (NL) and Tetsuya Umeda (JP) are invited – furthermore Hiroshi Yoshioka (JP) is hosted by the Academy of fine Arts, Vienna. Starting with the exhibition of Mamoru Okuno in the AiR base of quartier21/ MuseumsQuartier Vienna on April 14th (6 pm) the invited will take part in various bits of the huge program of Coded Cultures – Exploring Creative Emergences.

After the opening on Wednesday, and on Thursday and Friday from 9 – 12 pm, there is the possibility to enjoy a drink or two and discuss the day’s events in the PLAY.FM Lounge right next to the Freiraum/quartier21, where the exhibition takes place.
